About

Between the page and the screen

I'm Luis, a designer and developer from Granada, living in Rome. I work between editorial design, type and interfaces, with one constant: whoever reads should never be left behind.

01 · The path

From a camera to a grid, to code

I started with photography, studying it in Spain. Then Rome, and the Accademia di Belle Arti, where I learned to think in grids, pages and typefaces. Code came last, out of a simple need: to build myself the interfaces I was drawing, and to make them work for everyone.

Moving between Spain and Italy, between two languages, taught me how much a design depends on who is on the other side, and how easy it is to leave someone out.

02 · How I work

Form follows use. And every form should teach something.

Two lessons from the Bauhaus that I try to carry into every project.

Elegant, interactive, fluid

Three words I'd like my work to earn. Elegant, because restraint is a form of respect for the reader. Interactive, because I'd rather let people try than tell them. Fluid, because nobody reads at the same pace, and a good design makes room for that.

  • Editorial

Magazines, books and grids where form and content argue the same idea: crudo., argilla.

  • Type

Letters that keep the memory of a place and can still be read by everyone: callejera.

  • Interfaces

Accessible UI, from the first sketch to working code: tuprofeluis, R.E.S.

  • Identity

Systems that stay calm and recognisable across print and screens: nutrimente.

03 · Now

What I'm looking for

I'm finishing my degree and my thesis, and the last modules of the web developer course. I'm looking for a first role in UI/UX design with a strong focus on accessibility and inclusive design, and for a master's programme where design, code and research meet.
